Sept. 20 - Oct. 4

PLATAFORMA  2020 is an encuentro and convergence spanning two-weeks between Sept.  20 - Oct. 4 consisting of workshops, grief parties, y pláticas más o  menos performativas con pan y mantequilla y tu pan dulce favoritito con  un cafecito! We will gather, center, strengthen, and amplify BIQTPOC  artists, activists, healers, herbalists, thinkers, and movers based in  the U.S. and internationally. PLATAFORMA seeks to plant seeds of hope by  practicing radical vulnerability, generosity, and exchanging pleasure  tactics that uplift our individual and collective queer AfroIndigenx  ancestries and futurities.

This is about surrender and reclaiming agency.

This moment is the only one we really have.

PLATAFORMA’s  first year is co-curated with the presence, attention, and laughter of  Amelia Uzategui Bonilla, Javier-Stell Frésquez, and randy  estrellx reyes.

Awakening Intuition: Embodying Pleasure

Join Aiano Nakagawa in the forest for an excerpt of Awakening Intuition: Embodying Pleasure where participants engage in a guided exploration of the body as the shadow self. This iteration of the workshop will focus on independent movement/somatic practices with a(n optional) peer share at the end. Explore time and sensation as a tool to expand capacity for interoception, self-compassion, and pleasure while awakening connection to intuition.

Due to the sensitive nature of shadow work, this workshop will not be offered virtually. To uphold the safety and well being of the community, this workshop will be held in Joaquin Miller Park, at the big trees trailhead, where participants can breathe clean air and maintain physical distance. We understand this sets limitations on accessibility and therefore this workshop will be offered again in winter 2020 in its entirety.

Summer Solstice Workshop for Rebirth, in collaboration with AstroSagas

The summer solstice marks a natural shift in energy for the year— the beginning of the year is the Yang, when new energy is introduced into Earth Sphere. The second half is Yin, when we take in that information and renew ourselves through integration and synthesis with the reality that is blossoming around us.
With five planets in retrograde at this zenith point, we are being asked to look within for the seeds that have already been planted in order to burst forth together. This workshop will help you understand the energetic patterns that have activated the transformation taking place on this sphere, what to expect for the second half of 2020, and how to plan for the changes, together. We will close with a prayer for the changes we want to see, and a vision for the world that is being seeded in this moment.
This 2 hour workshop will include:

  •  Astrological & Historical perspective on the events that have already passed in 2020
  • Story of Cancer / Summer Solstice
  • Astrological trends & forecast for PLUTO RETURN && Eclipse Season in the USA 2020
  • Co-creation of prayer to set for the coming of the new world that has been seeded.

Saturday, June 20 20205-7pm PSTRSVP on eventbrite to get the zoom linkThis fundraiser workshop will be open to the public. Free to Black People and $5 + donation to Reclaim the Block for everyone else!
"Reclaim the Block began in 2018 and organizes Minneapolis community and city council members to move money from the police department into other areas of the city’s budget that truly promote community health and safety. We believe health, safety and resiliency exist without police of any kind."

The Uses of the Erotic in the Time of Transition with M’kali-Hashiki

Chaos is the birther of change.

We are in a chaotic time, a time when the violent demise of the death cult we call capitalism is at hand. We are hovering on this tipping point of a love revolution, when the world that prioritizes love & beauty & community & connection might be manifested.

Artists and healers are essential in both the manifestation & upkeep of this world we've been longing for our whole lives. Eros is a tool to help you care for yourself on your own healing journey so you can lead a more holistic life that will nurture your gifts to the world in their best blooming bounty.

This 2hr workshop will teach you how to access & circulate your erotic energy, and leave you with techniques to add to or create your own regular practice to deepen your embodiment.

Wear loose fitting & comfortable clothes, bring water and writing/recording tools.

AFROINDIGEFUTUREQ##R WORKSHOP WITH THOMAS DEFRANTZ

AfroIndigeFUTUREqu##r poses the questions:

how do we dance for the future? in fits and starts, in video bits and interfaces?

where does our shared history matter as we imagine forward?

this is a research workshop dancing toward a techno-afro-indigenous-future.

open to all POC who wonder at afrofuturism, indigeneity, and performance making.

in this research workshop, we will explore the future/body as a technology for making

work that values ancestral memory and Black lives. how are we all implicated

in the qu##r media spaces of digital dancing?

we will move together, and imagine a future that respects queer bodies of color leading us all forward, in every direction...

Archetypes for Poetic Justice - Space for BIPOC

Sunday November 8, 10AM-1PM PST

Workshop experience exploring new archetypes and movements for poetic justice using butoh dance and deep inquiry

Space is only for BIPOC folx.

Zoom link will be sent day before event.

You are invited to wear colors and clothes that give you the sense of your own power (not necessary).

***

A deep inquiry into creating images and art that provokes “on the same scale as society has the capacity to destroy”.

The word archetype means "original pattern from which copies are made" and is derived from senses of "beginning, origin," and "pattern". In exploring archetypes and recurring stories from art, literature, myths, and religions, we will research and queer archetypes, individually and collectively through movement:

- What can we remember about ourselves, in our bodies, psyches, and spirits?

- What lies in the middle of how archetypes contradict and complement each other?

- What is my unique relation to the movements that emerge from my unique relations to themes and archetypes? How do new archetypes emerge through us?

Our research experience will use butoh-fu, methods of poetic choreography to play with forms and evoke organic movement from imagery and memories. We will also play with the privacy, interactivity, and the gaze of Zoom.

Butoh formed in post-WWII Japan, is unafraid to touch deeply human themes, emotions, and aesthetics, beyond what is socially accepted, and combines aspects of contemporary dance, theater, improvisation, and ritual. In dancing the edges, we can find turning points for healing, acceptance, and transformation of nature, which includes ourselves.

Also inspired by interdisciplinary expressive arts, healing modalities, Jungian archetypes, questions of Poetic Justice group, and the pressures of life and injustice that require new movement.

Workshop stipend will be donated to bay area black and indigenous performing artists. Remaining donations will support furthering this work. Thank you.
